Indramayu – PT Perta Life Insurance (PertaLife Insurance) and Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) have demonstrated a shared sustainable commitment to supporting community health quality and financial literacy. This was achieved through the Posyandu Volunteer Capacity Building Program held in two coastal villages in Indramayu Regency: Karangsong Village (Sept 29) and Eretan Wetan Village (Sept 30).
More than 90 Posyandu (Integrated Healthcare Center) volunteers participated in the event, which aimed to strengthen their roles as the frontline of health services while equipping them with financial knowledge to better face future challenges. This program is a strategic synergy between PHE ONWJ and PertaLife Insurance to create a sustainable social impact for communities around operational areas.
In addition to educational materials, PertaLife Insurance and PHE ONWJ provided support in the form of various facilities to support Posyandu operations, including folding tables, mattresses and pumps, digital scales for children, height measuring tools, digital tensimeters, glucometers, and digital baby scales. This assistance was provided to improve the quality of Posyandu services and encourage volunteers to be more optimal in carrying out their duties.
During the educational sessions, PHE ONWJ provided information on preventing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) and HIV & AIDS as promotive and preventive measures to increase public awareness about the importance of health from an early age. Additionally, there was education on balanced nutrition to maintain community health and prevent stunting.
Meanwhile, PertaLife Insurance presented financial literacy and inclusion sessions led by Nadya Astriani Putri (Marketing Communication PertaLife Insurance) and Abi Ahmad Wiguna (DPLK PertaLife). They provided a comprehensive understanding of the role of insurance in maintaining family financial stability during unexpected risks, as well as the importance of pension fund planning as a foundation for an independent life in old age.
The material emphasized that financial planning is not limited to saving but also ensures that families have long-term financial protection and a legacy of welfare that can be passed down across generations.
In Karangsong Village, the activity was held at Balai Serikat Nelayan Tradisional (SNT), the traditional fishermen’s union hall, and was attended by the Head of the Margadadi Community Health Center, Dr. H. Nurkhasanah; Nutritionist Ibu Vera; representatives from PHE ONWJ and OHIH; and local village midwives. A total of 35 Posyandu volunteers participated.
In Eretan Wetan Village, the activity took place at the Village Head’s Office (Kantor Kuwu) and was attended by representative of the Eretan Wetan Village Government, Mr. Faozan; Head of the Kertawinangun Community Health Center, Drg. H. Ujang Marsono; Nutritionist Laili Noor Utami; PHE ONWJ management representatives; Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene (OHIH) representative Dr. Hari Catur Basuki; and village midwives. A total of 64 Posyandu volunteers actively participated in the training and literacy sessions.
R. Ery Ridwan, Head of Communication Relations & CID at PHE ONWJ, stated on a separate occasion that this activity is clear proof of cross-sector collaboration bringing sustainable benefits. “This program is a form of Pertamina Group synergy in building the quality of life for people around operational areas. Posyandu volunteers are the spearhead of health services, so increasing their capacity is a long-term investment for community health,” said Ery.
Dr. Hari Catur Basuki from OHIH added the importance of health education. “Prevention is always better than cure. Health literacy, such as DHF and HIV & AIDS prevention, is expected to empower volunteers as agents of change in the community,” he explained, “and this includes balanced nutrition education to improve community nutrition and prevent stunting early on.”
Meanwhile, Riyan Zola, Corporate Communication at PertaLife Insurance, affirmed that this activity aligns with the company’s vision. “For PertaLife Insurance, financial literacy and pension planning are essential foundations so that families can plan for a better future. Insurance protection and pension funds are financial legacies that hold value across generations,” he said.
Through this collaboration, PHE ONWJ and PertaLife Insurance have not only provided physical assistance and health facilities but also built financial awareness within the community. This synergy is expected to be a concrete step toward a community that is healthy, independent, and financially protected in the future. PLI.
