Bali, February 19, 2025 – A green revolution is taking place in Bali. After successfully introducing eco enzyme across various banjar through the program “PertaLife Insurance Cares for the Environment: Saving the Earth Through Eco Enzyme” in early 2024, PertaLife Insurance is now taking a further step. This time, Balinese farmers are preparing to transform their farming practices by adopting environmentally friendly methods based on eco enzyme, which can improve soil fertility, reduce air pollutants, and produce higher-quality harvests.
This initiative is part of PertaLife Insurance’s long-term commitment to supporting sustainable environmental programs. By applying eco enzyme in agriculture, the program helps reduce the use of harmful chemicals, maintain ecosystem balance, and educate farmers and communities about the importance of sustainable farming.
In collaboration with local farmer groups, PertaLife Insurance will begin developing more than 4 hectares of rice fields as eco-agriculture land. As an initial step, 20 acres (2,000 m²) of land in Tibubeneng will be cultivated using eco enzyme without chemical inputs. The program officially started on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, with the expectation of delivering economic benefits for farmers while preserving the environment.
PertaLife Insurance successfully held the opening ceremony of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program focusing on eco enzyme activities at the Banjar Hall in Banjar Kulibul Kangin on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. Eco enzyme is a product derived from the fermentation of organic waste that has the potential to provide positive impacts across various sectors, particularly in agriculture, where it can be used as a natural and environmentally friendly compost.
The ceremonial event took place at the Banjar Hall of Banjar Kulibul Kangin in Kuta Utara and was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from the Badung Regency Government, the local village administration, farmers, and community members who showed great enthusiasm for the initiative. The President Director of PertaLife Insurance, Hanindio W. Hadi, attended the event to represent the company and delivered remarks regarding the company’s commitment to supporting sustainable development.
In recent years, the conversion of agricultural land in Bali into non-agricultural areas has been increasing. Many farmers have become reluctant to cultivate their land due to rising agricultural input costs and declining selling prices for agricultural products. Therefore, the eco enzyme program is expected to provide a solution by encouraging farmers to optimize the use of their agricultural land while improving environmentally friendly production yields.
This CSR initiative, known as ECO BANJAR, has been implemented since May 2024. The eco enzyme program not only introduces the basic concept of eco enzyme production but also provides practical training guided by expert facilitators in the field. In addition, assistance has been provided in the form of one rice threshing machine and one rice milling machine. The program aims to enhance community and local farmers’ knowledge about the benefits of organic waste that can be processed into useful products for their welfare.
“We hope this eco enzyme CSR program will not only have a positive economic impact on farmers but also contribute to broader environmental conservation efforts. We believe sustainability is not merely a concept but a real action that can bring benefits to both the environment and society. By utilizing eco enzyme in agriculture, we aim to create long-term positive impacts for farmers, consumers, and the ecosystem as a whole,” said Hanindio W. Hadi in his remarks.
Meanwhile, the Assistant for Economy and Development of the Regional Secretariat of Badung Regency, Ida Bagus Gede Arjana, expressed appreciation for the program. “We are very grateful for the support from PertaLife Insurance in implementing eco enzyme in agriculture. We hope this method will not only improve the quality of harvests and maintain soil fertility for future generations but also preserve the environment,” he said.
Farmers participating in the program hope it will become a long-term solution to improve their welfare without damaging the environment. “We want to farm in a healthier and more sustainable way. With eco enzyme, we not only reduce our dependence on chemicals but also ensure that our harvests are more natural and nutritious for the community,” said one of the participating farmers.
PertaLife Insurance has now entered its third consecutive year since 2022 of implementing its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) programs in Badung Regency. The initiatives began in 2022 with a child character development program in six public elementary schools in the Kuta area. In 2023, the company introduced a children’s literacy improvement program through reading corners, and in 2024, it continued with book donation programs, insurance protection for teachers, and eco enzyme training.
Corporate Communication of PertaLife Insurance, Ratih Triutami Wijayanti, expressed hope that this CSR initiative represents a tangible commitment by the company to support sustainable development, focusing on poverty alleviation, decent job creation, inclusive economic growth, climate change mitigation, and the preservation of terrestrial ecosystems. It is hoped that this program will create long-term positive impacts benefiting the people of Bali and the environment as a whole. PLI.
