JAKARTA – PertaLife Insurance once again held its Leadership Talk event on Wednesday (February 5, 2025). This session featured Pahala N. Mansury, Vice President Commissioner of Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) and former Finance Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) for the period of September 2018 – November 2019. Held at the PertaLife Insurance Ballroom, the event carried the theme “Self-Leadership Strategies for Impact and Influence.”
The hybrid event was attended by the President Director of Dana Pensiun Pertamina, Arief Wibowo; the Director of Finance & Investment of Dana Pensiun Pertamina, Dede Kusnadi; as well as the entire Board of Directors of PertaLife Insurance.
Self-leadership became the main focus of the event, referring to an individual’s ability to influence, direct, supervise, and motivate themselves in achieving goals. In this context, individuals with strong self-leadership capabilities are better prepared to face challenges and realize their aspirations within increasingly complex and dynamic organizational environments.
Hanindio W. Hadi, President Director of PertaLife Insurance, expressed his appreciation for Mr. Pahala’s willingness to share his experience with the PertaLife team. In his opening remarks, Hanindio thanked Pahala, who is widely recognized as an agile and accomplished professional with extensive experience across multiple sectors, ranging from banking to aviation, and who previously served as Finance Director of PT Pertamina (Persero). “With his impressive professional career, he will certainly become a source of inspiration in shaping future leaders,” said Hanindio.
Hanindio further explained that the objective of this event was to introduce various leadership styles to PertaLife personnel so that they can develop themselves into resilient future leaders.
During the session, Pahala Nugraha Mansury shared his personal experiences in leadership. He explained the difference between a leader and a manager, noting that a leader is responsible for providing direction, while a manager focuses on planning and monitoring. Pahala also emphasized that a leader must possess a clear vision, the ability to drive change, and strong communication skills to effectively translate the organization’s vision.
Furthermore, Pahala highlighted the importance of character and integrity in leadership.
“The primary characteristic of a leader is integrity—carrying out everything according to the rules and remaining authentic in their leadership style,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration, fostering a harmonious environment within the organization, and eliminating silos. According to Pahala, a good leader is one who is capable of creating the next generation of leaders through mentorship.
Ratih Triutami Wijayanti, Corporate Communication of PertaLife Insurance, added that this Leadership Talk marked the 14th chapter of the program. The event serves as a valuable platform for PertaLife personnel to gain insights and learn from top leaders with outstanding track records, both from within the Pertamina Group and other major industries in Indonesia.
