Bali – As part of its commitment to improving financial literacy and inclusion in Indonesia, PertaLife Insurance participated in the household economics training program, Pelatihan Ekonomi Rumah Tangga (PERT), organized by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) through the Desa Energi Berdikari, Keluarga Nelayan Lestari (KENALI) program. The event, which took place at Balai Banjar Kelan, Desa Kelan, Badung Regency, Bali, on October 10, 2025, was attended by fishermen’s wives, the family welfare movement Pemberdayaan dan Kesejahteraan Keluarga (PKK) cadres, village administrators, and local MSMEs.
This training program is designed to equip the community with basic knowledge of simple financial management, the importance of emergency funds, orderly financial record keeping, and selecting appropriate and legal financial institutions. With adequate literacy, this program aims to help fishermen’s families to be better prepared to face times of famine, manage household income, and develop productive businesses sustainably.
As a concrete demonstration of support for this goal, Abi Ahmad Wiguna from DPLK PertaLife attended as the keynote speaker and delivered a session titled “Manajemen Keuangan Sederhana dan Dana Darurat bagi Masyarakat.” In the session, Abi provided practical guidance on household financial management that participants could implement immediately, from organizing expenditure items to strategies for building an emergency fund.
The organizers also emphasized their commitment to delivering real social impact through financial education. “Through this collaboration, we want coastal communities to not only be able to meet their daily needs but also manage their income more wisely and in a planned manner,” said Muhammad Baron, Corporate Secretary of PT Pertamina International Shipping.
The participants, who came from various rural backgrounds, received immediate benefits from this activity. Not only did they gain new insights, but they were also motivated to start managing their finances more effectively. “This training has opened our eyes to the importance of recording expenses, setting aside emergency funds, and identifying legitimate and secure financial institutions,” said Made Sukarini, one of the training recipients.
Hence, PertaLife Insurance emphasized that their involvement in this activity is part of the company’s active role in supporting the national literacy program and a real contribution to community economic empowerment. “This collaboration is a part of our commitment to continuously contribute to improving Indonesians’ financial literacy. We hope this training can be a good start in building a strong and sustainable family economic foundation,” said Riyan Zola, Corporate Communications Officer of PertaLife Insurance.
More than just an educational activity, this program also reflects the spirit of “ONE Pertamina,” a strategic synergy and collaboration between Pertamina subsidiaries to provide added value to the community and the nation. PertaLife Insurance’s involvement with Pertamina International Shipping is solid proof of how synergy between subsidiaries can provide sustainable solutions, from empowering the local economy to improving financial literacy in coastal communities.
Through this collaboration, PertaLife Insurance and PIS are not only active in sharing knowledge but also play an important role in building the economic resilience of coastal communities. This initiative is expected to be a catalyst for the implementation of a more financially independent society, while also supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the areas of poverty alleviation, education, and inclusive economic growth.
